Vietnam’s VinFast to Enter Indian Market with a Stylish and Powerful Electric SUV
Vietnam’s electric car company, VinFast, is all set to launch its premium electric SUV — the VF7 — in India by October 2025. The launch will happen during the festive season, which is a popular time for buying vehicles. With this move, VinFast plans to take on the growing electric car market in India.
What is VinFast VF7?
The VinFast VF7 is a mid-size electric SUV that comes with a modern design made in partnership with Italian design firm Torino Design. It looks stylish and sporty, and comes with advanced features for a smooth and smart driving experience.
The car will be available in two versions:
- Eco Version
- Single electric motor
- Power: 204 horsepower
- Torque: 310 Nm
- Range: Up to 450 km on a full charge (WLTP certified)
- Front-wheel drive
- Plus Version
- Dual motors for all-wheel drive
- Power: 354 horsepower
- Torque: 500 Nm
- Range: Around 431 km on a full charge
Both versions will come with a 75.3 kWh battery, giving it good driving range and performance.
Premium Features Inside
The VF7’s cabin is designed to feel premium and high-tech. It includes:
- Large 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- Heads-up display (shows info on the windshield)
- Wireless phone charging
- Panoramic sunroof
- ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) for safety
- 360-degree camera and multiple airbags
These features will make driving both fun and safe.
Made in India, for India
VinFast is not just launching the car — it’s also building a big factory in Tamil Nadu, with an investment of ₹16,600 crore ($2 billion). The plant will produce cars using CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits, which means parts will be brought in and assembled locally. This helps reduce costs and creates jobs in India.
The factory will start with a capacity of 50,000 cars per year, and could go up to 1.5 lakh cars in the future. VinFast is also looking to expand to other states like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Expected Price in India
The VinFast VF7 is expected to be priced between ₹20 lakh and ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with other electric SUVs like:
- Hyundai Ioniq 5
- Kia EV6
- BYD Seal U / Sealion 7
However, VinFast says it’s not trying to compete directly with Tesla or others — it wants to offer premium features at better prices for Indian buyers.
