Bajaj CT 150X: Affordable Commuter Bike Launching in India

Bajaj Auto is gearing up to launch the CT 150X in India by mid-2025, a rugged and practical commuter motorcycle designed to fill the gap left by the discontinued Pulsar P150. Expected to be priced between ₹1.50 lakh and ₹1.80 lakh (ex-showroom), the CT 150X features a 149.68cc single-cylinder engine producing around 14.5 hp, a 13-litre fuel tank, and a comfortable seat height of 795 mm. Designed with daily commuters in mind, it offers features like a round headlamp, handguards, engine crash guard, and split-spoke alloy wheels, making it a tough yet stylish option for city and rural riders alike.

Design and Features

The CT 150X takes styling inspiration from the popular CT 125X, sporting a round headlamp with braced handlebar, rugged handguards, and practical accessories such as a saree guard and rear tyre hugger. The inclusion of an engine crash guard and split-spoke alloys adds to its durability and street presence, distinguishing it from typical commuter bikes.

Engine and Performance

Powering the CT 150X is a tried-and-tested 149.68cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that churns out approximately 14.5 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and 13.5 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. This motor is borrowed from the Pulsar N150 and is expected to deliver peppy city performance while maintaining fuel efficiency. The bike is anticipated to come equipped with a front disc brake for better stopping power, though the rear brake is likely to be a drum setup to keep costs in check.

Dimensions and Practicality

With a length of 2053 mm, a wheelbase of 1410 mm, and a kerb weight of 169 kg, the CT 150X promises stability and comfort on various road conditions. The 795 mm seat height ensures accessibility for a wide range of riders, while 140 mm ground clearance makes it suitable for uneven urban and semi-urban terrains. A 13-litre fuel tank offers the convenience of longer rides between refills, ideal for daily commuters.

Fuel Efficiency and Target Audience

Bajaj expects the CT 150X to deliver an impressive mileage of around 60 km/l, making it one of the most fuel-efficient motorcycles in the 150cc segment. Targeted primarily at urban commuters and rural buyers seeking a rugged, no-nonsense machine, the CT 150X will cater to those wanting both style and practicality without burning a hole in their pockets.

Launch Timeline and Competition

The CT 150X is expected to hit dealerships by June 2025, and will compete directly with motorcycles like the Hero Xpulse 200 4V and TVS Ronin 225. With its balance of rugged features, reliable performance, and attractive pricing, the Bajaj CT 150X is poised to carve a niche in the highly competitive commuter motorcycle segment.
