Bajaj Auto has revolutionized the Indian two-wheeler market with the launch of the Bajaj Freedom 125, the world's first CNG-powered motorcycle. This innovative bike combines the benefits of compressed natural gas (CNG) with traditional petrol, offering riders an eco-friendly and cost-effective commuting solution.
Dual-Fuel Technology
The Bajaj Freedom 125 is equipped with a dual-fuel system, allowing riders to switch between CNG and petrol seamlessly. This feature provides flexibility and ensures that riders are not dependent on a single fuel source. The CNG tank has a capacity of 12.5 liters, while the petrol tank holds 2 liters, offering a combined range of up to 330 km—200 km on CNG and 130 km on petrol.
Impressive Mileage
One of the standout features of the Bajaj Freedom 125 is its exceptional fuel efficiency. When running on CNG, the bike delivers a mileage of up to 102 km/kg, while on petrol, it offers around 65 kmpl. This impressive mileage significantly reduces the cost per kilometer, making it an economical choice for daily commuters.
Powerful Performance
Powered by a 124.58 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, the Bajaj Freedom 125 generates a maximum power output of 9.5 PS at 8000 rpm and a peak torque of 9.7 Nm at 5000 rpm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, providing a smooth and responsive riding experience. The bike achieves a top speed of 93.4 km/h on petrol and 90.5 km/h on CNG.
Modern Features
The Bajaj Freedom 125 comes equipped with a host of modern features designed to enhance the riding experience. These include a fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing riders to receive call alerts, SMS notifications, and battery status updates. The bike also features LED headlamps, alloy wheels, USB charging ports, and a combined braking system (CBS) for added safety.
Variants and Pricing
The Bajaj Freedom 125 is available in three variants: NG04 Drum, NG04 Drum LED, and NG04 Disc LED. The ex-showroom prices for these variants are as follows:
- NG04 Drum: ₹90,272
- NG04 Drum LED: ₹95,277
- NG04 Disc LED: ₹1,10,272
These variants cater to different preferences, with the Disc LED variant offering enhanced braking performance and additional features.
Safety and Durability
Safety is a top priority in the design of the Bajaj Freedom 125. The bike features a protective trellis frame that houses the CNG tank, ensuring safety in the event of an impact. The CNG kit has undergone rigorous safety tests, including frontal, rear, and side collision tests, as well as extreme scenarios like being run over by a truck. The CNG tank has received official certification from the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization (PESO), ensuring compliance with government safety standards.
