Ex-showroom is not what you pay. Pick your state and trim to see the road tax, insurance and charges on top — the tax alone differs by more than a lakh between states on the same car.

Pre-filled at about 3.5% of ex-showroom, which is typical for a first-year comprehensive policy. Your actual quote depends on cover, add-ons and the insurer — change it if you have a real quote.

Triumph Tiger 1200: Triumph's Big-Bore Adventure Tourer for India's Long Highways The Tiger 1200 is Triumph's flagship adventure motorcycle, built around a 1160 cc liquid-cooled inline-three engine that makes a claimed 158 PS (155.8 bhp) at 9,250 rpm and 130 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm, according to Triumph's own India specification pages for the GT Pro and Rally Explorer. That is a serious amount of power for a touring bike, and it comes with shaft drive, so there is no chain to clean or adjust on a long trip, which matters when you are riding from Mumbai to Goa or up to Leh and back. In India the range comes in four forms: the Rally Pro and Rally Explorer, which are the off-road-biased bikes on 21-inch front wheels, and the GT Pro and GT Explorer, which are the road-biased versions built for sharper tarmac manners. Price runs from about Rs 20.79 lakh for the Rally Pro to Rs 23.49 lakh for the top-end variant, ex-showroom. Colours include Jet Black, Matt Khaki, Matt Sandstorm, Carnival Red and Snowdonia White, spread across the four variants. Every Tiger 1200 uses Showa's EERA Heightflex semi-active suspension, with 200 mm of travel at both ends and electronically adjustable damping that reacts to road surface and riding mode. There is also a self-lowering function that drops the seat height when you slow to a stop, which genuinely helps shorter riders managing a tall adventure bike in traffic. Standard seat height is 810 mm, lowering to 790 mm with the system active, per Triumph's own spec sheet. Braking duties go to twin 320 mm discs up front gripped by Brembo Stylema calipers, backed by a single rear disc, with cornering ABS and traction control as standard. Where the GT and Rally models really differ is fuel tank size and weight. The GT Pro carries a 20-litre tank and a wet weight of around 250 kg, while the Rally Explorer steps up to a 30-litre tank for genuinely long-range touring, which pushes weight to roughly 268 kg. Either way, this is a big, substantial motorcycle, not something to be thrown around at walking pace, but it settles into a smooth, confident stride once rolling, with the triple-cylinder motor giving a distinctive mid-range pull that two-cylinder rivals cannot quite match. Inside, you get a 7-inch TFT touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, up to eight riding modes, adaptive cruise control, and Triumph's Shift Assist for clutchless gear changes. These are features that belonged to flagship tourers costing far more just a few years back. The buyer here already owns, or has owned, a mid-size adventure bike and is stepping up for serious distance touring, or is an enthusiast chasing a genuine rival to the BMW GS range, Ducati's Multistrada, or the Harley-Davidson Pan America. Against those, the Tiger 1200 leans on Triumph's three-cylinder character, a very different feel from the parallel-twin BMW or the V4 Ducati, and a service network that has expanded steadily in India over the past few years, which matters when you are committing over Rs 20 lakh to a touring machine you plan to actually use, not just park outside a cafe.
