Ex-showroom is not what you pay. Pick your state and trim to see the road tax, insurance and charges on top — the tax alone differs by more than a lakh between states on the same car.

Pre-filled at about 3.5% of ex-showroom, which is typical for a first-year comprehensive policy. Your actual quote depends on cover, add-ons and the insurer — change it if you have a real quote.

The Triumph Rocket 3 Is Still the Biggest-Engined Production Motorcycle You Can Buy There is no getting around the headline number on the Rocket 3: a 2,458 cc inline-three engine, the largest capacity fitted to any production motorcycle currently sold. Triumph's own India specification pages put peak power at 182 PS (180 bhp) at 7,000 rpm and peak torque at 225 Nm at just 4,000 rpm, and that torque figure tells you how this bike actually rides. It is not about chasing the redline, it is about a wall of pull arriving low in the revs and staying there through the gears. The Rocket 3 comes to India in two forms, the R and the GT, priced between Rs 24.03 lakh and Rs 24.67 lakh ex-showroom. The R is the more aggressive-looking roadster, with a seat height of 773 mm, while the GT is set up for a more relaxed, feet-forward riding position with a lower 750 mm seat, according to Triumph's own specification pages for both variants. Wet weight is listed at around 317 kg for the R and 320 kg for the GT, numbers that remind you this is a big cruiser-format machine built around that enormous engine, not a lightweight streetfighter wearing a big-bore badge. Stopping power comes from twin 320 mm front discs with Brembo M4.32 Stylema monobloc calipers and a single 300 mm rear disc with another Brembo M4.32 caliper, a genuinely serious brake package for a bike this heavy. Front suspension is a 47 mm Showa upside-down fork offering 120 mm of travel, and the rear is a fully adjustable Showa unit with a remote hydraulic preload adjuster, useful when you are carrying a passenger or luggage for the day. The fuel tank holds 18 litres, and with that much torque constantly on tap, fuel economy was never going to be the reason anyone buys one. Besides the engine, what you get is a cruiser that does not feel old-fashioned. There is a colour TFT instrument cluster, switchable riding modes, cornering ABS, traction control, LED lighting throughout, and cruise control as standard. Colour options range from Granite and Sapphire Black to combinations like Satin Baja Orange and Matt Sapphire Black, Satin Pacific Blue and Matt Sapphire Black, and Carnival Red and Sapphire Black, giving the Rocket 3 a presence that is hard to miss parked outside any cafe. This is a bike for a buyer who has already ridden big cruisers and wants something with a genuinely different character to a Harley-Davidson Fat Boy or Low Rider S, or to Ducati's Diavel. It is not anyone's first big bike, and Triumph is not pretending otherwise. The price, the weight, and the sheer amount of torque on offer all point to an experienced rider who wants a cruiser with triple-cylinder manners and modern electronics rather than a traditional V-twin thump. That buyer is rare in India, but for the handful who want this exact combination, nothing else quite replicates the Rocket 3's low-down shove.
