The Most Wanted Feature Among Indian Car Buyers

A recent survey has revealed that ventilated seats are now the most wanted feature among Indian car buyers. The survey found that 78% of buyers prefer ventilated seats over other features. The reason is simple—India’s hot weather.
Why Are People Choosing Ventilated Seats?
For years, sunroofs were considered a luxury. But now, buyers are realizing that sunroofs let in more heat, making the car warmer instead of cooler. On the other hand, ventilated seats help passengers stay cool and comfortable, especially during long drives.
Ajay Sharma, a Delhi-based car owner, shared his experience:
“I bought a car with a sunroof last year, but I hardly use it. Instead, I suffer in the heat. If I could go back, I would choose ventilated seats over a sunroof any day.”
Similarly, Priya Menon from Bengaluru said:
“I recently got a car with ventilated seats, and it makes a huge difference! No more sweating on leather seats.”
Safety Features Are Now Expected
In the past, buyers focused a lot on airbags, ABS, and parking sensors. Now, these features are standard in most cars. Since safety is no longer a concern, people are looking for comfort-based features instead.

Big Screens Are No Longer a Priority
Many people also feel that large touchscreen infotainment systems are not as useful as they seemed before. Instead of spending extra money on a big screen, buyers prefer to invest in ventilated seats, better air conditioning, and comfortable interiors.
Rahul Verma, a car enthusiast, shared his view:
“I don’t need a huge screen in my car. My phone already does everything. But a ventilated seat? That’s real comfort!”
Car Companies Are Making Changes
Seeing this shift in demand, car makers like Hyundai, Kia, Tata, and Mahindra have started offering ventilated seats in more models, including the Creta, Verna, Seltos, Nexon, Harrier, and XUV700.
Even Maruti Suzuki and Honda have introduced ventilated seats in select models.
- Maruti Suzuki’s XL6 was the first in its lineup to get this feature, and upcoming models like the e-Vitara are expected to include it.
- Honda offers ventilated seats as an accessory option for the Elevate SUV, allowing buyers to add this feature for extra comfort.
With summers getting hotter every year, ventilated seats are no longer just a luxury—they are quickly becoming a must-have feature in Indian cars. If you're planning to buy a new car, this might be the best upgrade to consider!
