Ex-showroom is not what you pay. Pick your state and trim to see the road tax, insurance and charges on top — the tax alone differs by more than a lakh between states on the same car.

₹

Pre-filled at about 3.5% of ex-showroom, which is typical for a first-year comprehensive policy. Your actual quote depends on cover, add-ons and the insurer — change it if you have a real quote.

KTM RC 160: A Fully Faired Small-Capacity Sports Bike The RC 160 takes the same 164.2 cc single-cylinder engine used in the 160 Duke, around 19 PS at 9,500 rpm and 15.5 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm according to the published specification data, and wraps it in full sports fairing with clip-on handlebars and a proper forward-leaning riding crouch. It is priced at Rs 2.01 lakh ex-showroom, sold in a single variant, and comes in Ceramic White Matte, Electronic Orange Matte and plain Black. Switching from an upright naked to full fairing changes the character of the bike more than the spec sheet alone suggests. The RC 160 carries a 155 kg kerb weight, a few kilos more than the Duke it is based on, and the riding position shifts weight onto the rider's wrists in exchange for a lower, more aerodynamic stance. Seat height goes up slightly to 830 mm, and ground clearance is 168 mm. Suspension is WP APEX componentry: 37 mm upside-down forks up front and a canister monoshock at the rear with 6-step adjustment, giving the rider some scope to firm things up for a weekend track day or soften them for daily commuting. Braking uses the familiar KTM small-bike setup of a 320 mm front disc and a 230 mm rear disc, both with dual-channel ABS. The published figures give a 118 kmph top speed and a 13.7-litre fuel tank, enough for a decent range given the engine's modest thirst. What the RC 160 is really selling is the shape: full fairing, split-trellis frame, 17-inch wheels, and race-replica graphics that visually tie it to KTM's MotoGP and Moto3 programme. It looks far more serious than its engine capacity suggests, and for a buyer whose first motorcycle has to look the part as much as it has to commute to college or work, that counts for a lot. In the market, the RC 160 is one of very few fully-faired options at its price point in India. There is no direct same-capacity rival from Bajaj or TVS wearing full fairing, so buyers typically cross-shop it against naked bikes like the Apache RTR 160 4V or Pulsar NS160, or stretch their budget toward Yamaha's R15, a notch up in both price and outright performance. Against the R15, the RC 160 cannot match the liquid-cooled, variable-valve engine of the Yamaha on paper, but it undercuts it on price while still offering a genuine clip-on-and-fairing sports riding position, dual-channel ABS, and the KTM badge, which carries real weight with riders who grew up watching the brand's racing history. For someone who wants the look and feel of a sports bike without stretching to a 250 cc machine, the RC 160 is a straightforward, honestly-priced way in.
