Toyota Glanza: what it is

The Glanza is Toyota's premium hatchback for India, mechanically related to the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and sold through Toyota's own network with Toyota's warranty and service terms. The 2026 facelift arrived in October 2026.

Prices and variants

Thirteen variants span Rs 6.99 lakh to Rs 10.98 lakh ex-showroom. The trim ladder is E, S, G, V and V (O). Petrol variants are offered with a manual or an AMT; CNG is offered on the S and G trims, in both manual and AMT form.

Engine, gearbox and economy

A 1,197cc four-cylinder petrol produces 81.8 bhp at 5,700 rpm and 112.4 Nm at 4,500 rpm. Toyota claims 23.8 kmpl for the petrol manual and 24.77 kmpl for the petrol AMT. On CNG the claims are 33.61 km/kg for the manual and 34.47 km/kg for the AMT.

The automatic claiming more than the manual on both fuels is unusual, and it reflects a gearbox calibrated for economy rather than response. The Glanza is not quick and does not try to be.

The CNG question

At 33 to 34 km/kg the running cost on CNG is roughly half that of petrol, depending on local gas prices. Whether the four CNG variants are worth it comes down to distance: above about 1,200 km a month, in a city with a reliable CNG network, they pay for themselves. Below that they do not, and the cylinder costs you boot space.

Safety

The facelift makes six airbags standard fitment on all 13 variants, and Level 2 ADAS appears on the higher trims, bringing adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance into this price bracket.

Rivals

The Glanza competes with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno it shares its engineering with, plus the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz. Since the mechanical package is shared with the Baleno, the real differentiators are Toyota's service network, warranty terms and resale.

Should you buy one?

A sensible, economical hatchback with standard six airbags and a genuinely useful factory CNG option. Buy it for running costs and dependability, not for the way it drives. Prices quoted are ex-showroom; confirm the on-road figure with your authorised Toyota dealer.
