[New Delhi, August 2025] – India’s two-wheeler market witnessed an intense battle for the top spot in July 2025, with Hero MotoCorp once again emerging victorious. The homegrown manufacturer outperformed rivals Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) and TVS Motor Company, securing the No. 1 position in monthly sales.
According to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Hero MotoCorp sold approximately 5.2 lakh units in July 2025, marking a year-on-year growth of 6%. Honda followed closely with 4.85 lakh units, while TVS retained third position with 3.6 lakh units.
Hero’s Consistent Market Lead
Hero MotoCorp’s performance was driven by strong demand for its commuter motorcycles such as the Splendor+, HF Deluxe, and Passion Plus, as well as healthy sales from the Glamour XTEC and Xtreme 160R in the premium commuter segment.
The company also benefited from robust rural demand, driven by improved monsoon conditions and government spending on rural infrastructure.
A Hero MotoCorp spokesperson commented:
“Our consistent focus on fuel efficiency, affordable pricing, and nationwide service support continues to resonate with Indian customers. The July sales reaffirm our leadership.”
Honda’s Competitive Push
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India maintained strong momentum, led by its best-selling scooter, the Activa, which remains the most popular gearless two-wheeler in the country. The company also saw rising demand for the Shine 125 and the newly launched SP160.
However, despite narrowing the gap, Honda couldn’t surpass Hero in total sales. The brand is now banking on its upcoming electric scooter launch later this year to strengthen its market position.
TVS Retains Third Place
TVS Motor Company retained its third spot in July 2025, thanks to consistent performance from the Apache RTR series, Raider 125, and Jupiter scooter. The company’s electric scooter, iQube, also contributed to its sales growth, particularly in urban markets.
Key Market Trends in July 2025

- Electric two-wheelers recorded a modest rise in sales, with more models entering the market.
