The Tata Aeris marks a bold evolutionary leap for Tata Motors in the highly competitive sub-4-metre vehicle market. Positioned as the direct successor to the popular Tata Tigor, the Aeris shakes up the compact sedan class by fusing the premium aesthetic of a luxury notchback with the daily utility and high efficiency demanded by Indian car buyers. Built on an agile platform, it blends city-friendly dimensions with high-end safety, offering a stylish, value-packed, and fuel-efficient alternative to traditional compact SUVs and hatchbacks.

Exterior & Design Language

Moving away from conservative three-box styling, the Aeris embraces an aggressive, aerodynamic profile. It adopts Tata's contemporary design language, heavily inspired by premium siblings like the Curvv and Nexon, featuring a split-LED headlamp cluster, sharp daytime running lights (DRLs), and a sleek, piano-black front grille. The defining highlight is its sweeping coupe-like roofline, which gracefully flows into a high-deck rear. The rear fascia is accented by a futuristic, full-width connected LED light bar, giving the vehicle a wide, planted stance on the road.

Cabin, Comfort, and Technology

Inside, the Tata Aeris completely steps away from its predecessor's basic layout, opting for a minimalist, dual-tone dashboard wrapped in premium textures. The center stage is taken by a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Drivers are treated to a fully digital instrument cluster, a sleek two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, and touch-based automatic climate controls. Despite its compact footprint, smart interior packaging ensures ample legroom and an ergonomic seating posture for five occupants.

Powertrain and Performance

Under the hood, the Aeris relies on a refined version of Tata’s proven 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine.

Petrol Mode: It delivers a balanced mix of peppy city performance and effortless highway cruising, mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
CNG Variant: The Aeris features Tata’s pioneering dual-cylinder iCNG technology. By hiding two smaller CNG tanks beneath the luggage floor, it eliminates the typical boot space compromise, leaving a highly usable trunk for weekend getaways while delivering exceptionally low running costs.

Safety Benchmark

In true Tata Motors fashion, safety remains a core pillar. Built on a high-strength chassis, the Aeris is engineered to target top-tier crash safety ratings. The vehicle comes equipped with six airbags as standard, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and a 360-degree camera system to make tight city parking completely stress-free.
