Prices, specifications and the launch date are expected figures based on the latest information and may change when the car is launched.

The Avinya name has been floating around Tata's electric vehicle plans since a 2022 concept reveal, and more than four years later it is still not a car you can book or price with any confidence. As of November 2026, Tata Motors has not listed the Avinya on its own website, has not announced a launch date, and has not disclosed a single specification. Everything below comes from spy shots, patent filings and dealer-trade reporting, not from the company.

What is actually known: a heavily camouflaged test mule was spotted on Indian public roads in July 2026, following a patent filing leak in June 2026 that showed dashboard and interior details. That is real evidence of a car in development, but it says little about readiness for sale. Autocar India and the larger listing sites both expect the car to reach Indian showrooms sometime between January and February 2027, though neither attributes that window to Tata itself. Treat it as an informed guess, not a confirmed date.

There is also genuine confusion about what underpins the car. Early coverage assumed Avinya would ride on Tata's own from-scratch Gen 3 electric architecture. More recent 2026 reporting suggests Tata may instead use a platform shared with JLR's Freelander programme, built with Chery. Which of the two is true has not been settled in public reporting, let alone confirmed by Tata.

Body style is reported as an SUV or SUV-coupe shape, with some listings mentioning a six-seat layout and a 79kWh battery pack, though none of this is manufacturer-sourced. A few outlets quote a claimed range above 500km and fast charging under 30 minutes, figures that trace back to concept-era ambitions rather than tested production numbers. The 2022 show car had dramatic details such as butterfly doors and camera-based mirrors; whether any of that survives to the production version is unknown.

On price, the aggregator listings cluster around Rs 40 lakh, while one of them runs considerably higher, at Rs 45-60 lakh. The gap between those numbers is wide enough that Rs 40 lakh should be read as an optimistic floor rather than a safe midpoint.

In short, a real car is being developed and tested, but almost nothing about its platform, specifications, price or launch date has been confirmed by Tata Motors. Anyone planning around a January 2027 arrival at Rs 40 lakh should treat both numbers as placeholders that could move.
