Ex-showroom is not what you pay. Pick your state and trim to see the road tax, insurance and charges on top — the tax alone differs by more than a lakh between states on the same car.

Pre-filled at about 3.5% of ex-showroom, which is typical for a first-year comprehensive policy. Your actual quote depends on cover, add-ons and the insurer — change it if you have a real quote.

The Breakout shares its Milwaukee-Eight 117 Custom engine almost exactly with the Fat Boy — 103HP at 5,020rpm and 168Nm at 3,000rpm from the same 1,923cc air-cooled V-twin — but builds a very different motorcycle around it. Where the Fat Boy is about that solid front wheel and classic mass, the Breakout is a drag-strip-inspired custom cruiser, built low, long and wide with a 34-degree rake up front and a genuinely massive 240/40R18 rear tyre that defines its entire stance. Kerb weight comes in at 309kg, close to the Fat Boy but carried in a longer, lower chassis with a 665mm seat height — one of the lowest in Harley's India lineup — and an 18.9-litre fuel tank for reasonable range between fills. The exhaust is a 2-into-2 staggered setup that's as much a part of the Breakout's visual identity as its tyre width, and safety electronics match the rest of Harley's current big-twin range — ABS and cornering-enhanced ABS, traction control in standard and cornering variants, Drag-Torque Slip Control, and tyre pressure monitoring, all fitted as standard. Claimed fuel economy sits around 5.5 litres per 100km, broadly in line with the Fat Boy given the shared drivetrain. Riding a bike with this much rake and that wide a rear tyre feels distinct from the rest of Harley's cruiser range — steering is deliberately heavier and slower at low speed, which is the direct trade-off for the drag-bike stance the Breakout is built around, and most owners accept that trade-off willingly because it's exactly the look they're buying into. It isn't a bike that rewards tight, twisty riding, and it isn't trying to be. Priced at Rs 34,36,000 ex-showroom, the Breakout sits well above the Fat Boy despite the shared engine, reflecting how much of its value proposition is built around that distinctive custom silhouette rather than any additional mechanical capability. It's aimed at buyers who specifically want Harley's most dedicated custom-style cruiser rather than a general-purpose one, and like the rest of the brand's bigger machines in India, it's imported and serviced exclusively through Harley-Davidson's own dealer network. Low-speed manoeuvring, parking and U-turns all take more deliberate effort on the Breakout than on most other Harleys in the India range, a direct consequence of that aggressive rake and wide rear tyre, and it's worth experiencing that firsthand before committing, since it's a genuinely different low-speed feel from the Fat Boy despite sharing an engine. Once moving, though, the same strong low-end torque that defines the rest of Harley's big-twin range carries over here, making it easy to ride smoothly in traffic despite the custom styling.
