On-road price of the Ather Rizta

Ex-showroom is not what you pay. Pick your state and trim to see the road tax, insurance and charges on top — the tax alone differs by more than a lakh between states on the same car.

₹

Pre-filled at about 3.5% of ex-showroom, which is typical for a first-year comprehensive policy. Your actual quote depends on cover, add-ons and the insurer — change it if you have a real quote.

An estimate, not a quotation. States revise these rates in their budgets, dealers add handling and accessory charges, and insurance varies with cover. Ask your dealer for the full on-road breakdown in writing before you book. Rates held for 36 states.

Is a family scooter even the right way to think about an electric two-wheeler. Ather built the Rizta specifically to answer that question, aiming it at household buyers rather than Ather's original performance-scooter crowd, and the result is offered across S and Z trims with two battery sizes. The smaller 2.9 kWh pack is rated for a claimed 123 km of range (Ather's own real-world estimate is closer to 105 km), while the larger 3.5 kWh pack is rated for a claimed 159-160 km (roughly 125 km real-world); both share the same 4.3 kW motor and an 80 kmph top speed, so battery size here buys range and peace of mind rather than speed. Charging times differ meaningfully between the two: the smaller battery takes about 6 hours for a 0-80% charge and 7 hours 15 minutes for a full charge, while the larger 3.5 kWh pack charges considerably faster — around 3 hours 7 minutes to 80% and just over 5 hours to full — thanks to a higher-rate charging setup, which matters a lot for anyone charging at home overnight on a tight schedule. Ather sells the Rizta on practicality more than performance: features like a flat footboard for carrying shopping or a child, a reasonably large under-seat storage area, and the Stack Pro connected dashboard with navigation and ride stats, offered as an upgrade across several variants in this line-up. The Duo colour options, with a contrasting panel, are aimed at the same family-friendly, slightly playful positioning as the rest of the model. Priced from Rs 1.22 lakh to Rs 1.80 lakh ex-showroom across the S and Z trims, battery sizes and the Stack Pro option, the Rizta competes with the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak for households looking at a second, electric scooter for short daily trips, school runs and errands. Ather's charging network, while smaller than TVS's dealer-backed reach, has a reputation for better software reliability, which is often the deciding factor for buyers choosing between these three. The two battery sizes change the calculation more than they might first appear to, mostly because of the charging-speed difference rather than range alone — the 3.5 kWh pack's faster charging means less time waiting around if a family needs the scooter back on the road the same evening after a day of errands. For a genuinely single-scooter household relying on it for all short trips, the larger battery is worth the extra outlay; for a second or third vehicle charged overnight with no rush, the smaller pack is a perfectly sensible way to save money upfront.
