The Mahindra Thar OG marks a monumental upgrade to India's favourite 3-door lifestyle off-roader. While preserving the classic, squared-off silhouette and unmatched street presence of its predecessor, the "OG" brings substantial engineering upgrades beneath the skin. Moving to the stiffer and lighter M-GLYDE 4G high-strength steel platform (shared with the 5-door Thar Roxx), it delivers drastically improved structural rigidity, significantly reduced NVH levels, and a wider track for superior high-speed stability.

Iconic Styling with a Modern Twist

On the outside, the Thar OG blends its heritage design with contemporary premium accents. The front fascia receives a restyled five-slat grille proudly stamped with Thar branding, flanked by new signature C-shaped LED DRLs and automatic cornering LED fog lamps. Its rugged profile is elevated by striking 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and updated rear LED taillamps. Fresh exterior shades like Artemis Silver and Jeans Blue expand its vibrant colour palette.

Premium, Tech-Loaded Cabin

Inside, the rugged utilitarian cabin transforms into a comfortable, modern-retro space. Occupants are treated to premium Truffle Brown leatherette upholstery, a floating 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car technology, and a wireless phone charger. Practicality takes a step forward with a dedicated second-row armrest featuring integrated cupholders.

Advanced Performance & Ride Dynamics

The Thar OG is propelled by three refined, more potent powertrain options:

• 2.0L mStallion Turbo-Petrol: Pumping out a boosted 162 PS and 330 Nm of torque.
• 2.2L mHawk Diesel: Upgraded to push out 152 PS and 330 Nm of torque.
• 1.5L Diesel: Reliable and efficient, producing 117 PS and 300 Nm of torque.

Drivers can choose between a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission, alongside Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) or rugged Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) configurations. Daily driveability gets a massive boost thanks to Electric Power Steering (EPS) and an advanced Pentalink rear suspension with Watts Link. Combined with DaVinci Frequency Dependent Dampening (FDD), the SUV offers a remarkably plush, composed city ride while retaining its legendary capability across Sand, Mud, and Snow terrain modes.

Uncompromised Safety

Prioritising occupant protection, Mahindra has established a new benchmark by offering 6 airbags and all-wheel disc brakes as standard across the range. The Thar OG also debuts a first-in-segment 4-Head Pelvis Thorax Shoulder (HPTS) airbag system alongside electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold control, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a crisp rear-view camera.
